John Rosen, Director
The El Casal program has been developed by John Rosen, an experienced educator and mentor. John earned his BA in Political Science from the University of Colorado and his MA in Spanish Literature from New York University. He taught for nine years at the New Hampton School (NH) before taking up a post at Milton Academy (MA), where he stayed for ten years, serving as Modern Language Department Chairman, soccer coach and dormitory house parent.
He served as Resident Director of School Year Abroad, first in Barcelona and subsequently in Zaragoza, Spain from 1997 until 2002. At School Year Abroad, John taught AP Spanish Language and Spanish Literature, while supervising all the day-to-day aspects of student life, including the curriculum, the host family arrangements, overnight travel, extracurricular activities and college counseling. He also managed the school site and the business affairs of the program.

Inés Trias, ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
Inés Trias earned degrees in Psychology and Art History from the Universidad Central de Barcelona. She taught Art History, History of Spain and Spanish Language and Literature at School Year Abroad from 1987 until 2002. Her extensive experience working with American high schoolers and her intimate knowledge of Barcelona and Catalonian culture make her an invaluable resource for El Casal participants.
